The constraint

Lektoriram.si is the site of a solo Slovenian language editor who proofreads and translates academic work. Students looking for lektoriranje had no way of knowing what a thesis would cost until they wrote in, and there was no content engine bringing them to the site in the first place. So in 2023 we built one: a calculator on the home page that turns a text type and a character count into a price, a published per-page price list covering every service from a diploma thesis through to translation, and five service landing pages that each state their own price. An enquiry form validated with Zod sends two emails through Resend, one to the editor and a confirmation to the student. The blog runs on Hygraph, a headless CMS, with an RSS feed and structured data on every route. It is one Next.js app, in Slovene, with no database and no login.

The system

Lektoriram
  1. //01Home page leads with the enquiry form, not a link to a contact page
Lektoriram price calculator — text type, character count and the resulting quote
  1. //02Calculator: pick a text type, enter characters, get a price on the page
Lektoriram price list page with the published per-page rate for each service
  1. //03A price list publishing a per-page rate for every service
Lektoriram diploma-thesis service page with breadcrumbs and its own price
  1. //04Five service landing pages on one template, each stating its own price
  1. //05An about section carrying the editor's own pitch, not stock agency copy
  1. //06A testimonials block, then a single call to calculate a price
  1. //07Blog listing rendered from Hygraph, a GraphQL headless CMS
  1. //08Article pages with breadcrumbs on screen and in JSON-LD
  1. //09Enquiry form validated with Zod, sending two Resend emails per submission
  1. //10The same headline, form and calculator link on a phone

What changed

  1. //01A visitor can price a thesis on the page before contacting anyone
  2. //02Every rate is published per page instead of quoted on request
  3. //03Each enquiry reaches the editor and confirms itself back to the student
  4. //04Blog posts are published from Hygraph without touching the code

What we'd do differently

The site is a lead-generation and content surface, not an operating system: it has no database, no accounts and no payment step, so everything after the enquiry email still happens outside it. What we'd do differently: we put the blog in a CMS but left pricing and service copy hardcoded, so changing a rate is a deploy rather than an edit. The prices are the one thing on the page a visitor acts on, and they are the one thing the editor cannot change without a deploy.
